2nd Ole Ole Shah Alam Chess Championship - The Champions

Few hours ago, GiLoCatur was participating in the 2nd Ole Ole Chess Championship along with GiLoCatur's two boys - Fikri & Fahim Al-Faqeh. We arrived at the tournament venue (above pic) at around 9.00am. After paying the tournament fees, GiLoCatur rushed to the wet market at Section 6 to buy a supply of fish, chicken and vegetables. The tournament would start at 10.00am.

GiLoCatur hurried back to the Ole Ole shopping complex when completed the routine task. GiLoCatur reached the venue about 15 minutes past 10.00am. Luckily, the first round did not start yet. Who was GiLocatur's first round opponent? How many chess players were participating? Who were the champions? YES! Shah Alam Ole Ole Chess tournament is back! Last year, the first edition was held on 13th June. The second edition this year will be held on 10th July. Surely the venue of the tournament is at the Ole Ole Shopping Center (above picture) located in Shah Alam Section 18. GiLoCatur and all the kids participated in the tournament last year. How many players participated last year? About 50 participants in the Adults (above 12 years old) category and 30 youngsters in the Under 12 section. Who were the champions? NM Zarul Shazwan Zullkafli won the Open section while Subramanian Sivanesan from Seremban won the Under 12 category.

Date : 10 July 2010 (Saturday)

Venue : Ole Ole Shopping Complex, Section 18, Shah Alam

Format of play : 6 rounds SWISS system of rapid games (25 minute time control)

The fee :

(a) Open - RM 15 for Shah Alam residents, RM 20 for others

(b) Under 12 - RM 10 for Shah Alam residents, RM 15 for others
